On December 3, 2021, a woman named K’tirrah Stevens from Beaumont, Texas, asked her boyfriend, Bryce Ceaser, to watch her 11-month-old daughter, Ka’oir Stevens, while she went to her new job.

A few hours later, Bryce called K’tirrah and said that her daughter had a seizure and was not responding. He said Ka’oir was eating a cheese cracker and started choking. The baby was taken quickly to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, but she died there.

The police came and asked Bryce questions. At first, he told the same story about choking on cheese crackers. Later, he admitted what really happened that afternoon. Bryce said Ka’oir was misbehaving and bothering him while he played video games. Angry, he hit the baby hard to stop her crying.

A CT scan at the hospital showed that Ka’oir had a broken skull, bleeding in her brain and left eye, and bruises on her upper back.

Bryce was sent to prison for 30 years.
